The winter solstice

(good morning everyone!)

(Yesterday, December 22nd was the Winter Solstice.)

(In Japan, we eat pumpkin on this day.)

(The most popular way of cooking it is boiling it with sugar and soy sauce)

(Why pumpkin?)

(Pumpkin is written as "南瓜", and it is called "nankin", too.)

(and it is said that if you eat something that has "n" on its name on this day,

(and we take the bath in which yuzu are put.)

(Why yuzu?)

(Because yuzu has a strong fragrance and it is said that it keeps bad luck at a distance!)

(From tomorrow, the day will get longer little by little, but)

(the weather will still be very cold.)

(Please eat a lot and keep warm, everyone...)
