Feb. 3rd is the day of Setsubun 







 ㈱もへじ節分豆
 

二月三日は、節分の日です。

(にがつみっか は せつぶん の ひ です。)

February 3rd is the day of Setsubun.




節分は二つの季節の間という意味です。

(せつぶん は ふたつ の きせつ のあいだ という いみ です。)

Setsubun means the day between two seasons.




二月三日は、旧暦によると、最初の春の日の前日です。

(にがつみっか は きゅうれき によると さいしょ の はる の ひ の ぜんじつ です。)

February 3rd is the day before the first spring day according to the old lunar calendar of Japan.




二月三日の夜、(私たちは)豆まきをします。

(にがつみっか の よる (わたしたち は) まめまき を します。)

At night of Feb.3rd, we do Mame maki.




Mameは日本語で豆、豆まきは豆をまくという意味です。

(Mame は にほんご で まめ、 まめまき は まめ を まく という いみ です。)

Mame is a bean in Japanese and Mame maki means bean scattering or throwing.




(私たちは)家の中と外に豆をまきます。

((わたしたち は) いえ の なか と そと に まめ を まきます。)

We throw roasted soy beans inside and outside our houses.




まく時、(私たちは)「鬼は外!福は内!」と叫びます。

(まく とき (わたしたち は) 「おに は そと! ふく は うち!」と さけびます。)

While throwing, we shout "Oni wa soto!  Fuku wa uchi!"




これは「Demons outside! Good luck inside!」という意味です。

(これ は 「Demons outside! Good luck inside!」という いみ です。)

This means 「Demons outside!  Good luck inside!」




まいた後、(私たちは)残った豆を、年と同じ数食べます。

(まいた あと (わたしたち は) のこった まめ を とし と おなじ かず たべます。)

After finish throwing, we eat the remaining beans as many as our age.




ラッキーな方角を向きながら、「恵方巻き」という巻き寿司を食べる人もいます。

(ラッキー な ほうがく を むき ながら、 「えほうまき」 という まきずし を たべる ひと も
います。)

Some people eat sushi roll called"Ehou-maki" while facing the lucky direction.




恵方はラッキーな方角という意味です。

(えほう は ラッキーな ほうがく という いみ です。)

Ehou means lucky direction.
