東京は、今、「梅」の季節です。

今日は、「梅」の漢字を使った言葉を紹介します！
（きょうは、うめの かんじを つかった ことばを しょうかいします！）
Tokyo is now in the season of Ume.
Today, I introduce you the words including Ume-Kanji!
「梅」＋「雨」＝「梅雨」：
（うめ＋あめ＝つゆ）
「梅」の季節の「雨」だから「梅」の漢字が入ります。
（うめの きせつの あめ だから うめの かんじが はいります）
Ume + rain = Rainy Season:
because we are talking about the rain in the Ume season, we use Ume-kanji here.
「塩」＋「梅」＝「塩梅」：
（しお＋うめ＝あんばい）
昔の人は、梅をいい状態に保つために
(むかしの ひとは、うめを いい じょうたいに たもつ ために）
塩の量に気をつけなければならなかったので、
（しおの りょうに きを つけなければならなかった ので）
梅と塩を書いて、「物事の状態」を表します。
（うめと しおを かいて、「ものごとの じょうたい」を あらわします。）
「こんな塩梅じゃダメだ」とか「いい塩梅だ」と使います。
（こんな あんばいじゃ だめだ とか いい あんばいだ と つかいます）
Solt + Ume = the way things going on
because the people in the past needed to be careful with the amount of sult
to keep the Ume in good condition,
we write sult and Ume together to mean how things are.
For example, you can say somehting like
"How they are is not good at all" or "It is going well".
「松」＋「竹」＋「梅」＝「松竹梅」：
（まつ＋たけ＋うめ＝しょうちくばい）
松や竹は冬に緑を保ち、梅はまだ寒い2月に花を咲かせるからです。
（まつや たけは ふゆに みどりを たもち、うめは まだ さむい ２がつに はなを さかせる から です）
Pine tree + Bamboo tree + Ume tree = 3 lucky items
Pine and Bamboo keeps their green color during cold winter,
and Ume makes its flower bloom in February when it is still cold.
「梅木」＋「学問」＝「梅木学問」：
(うめき＋がくもん＝うめきがくもん）
育つスピードは早いが、大木になりません。
(そだつ すぴーどは はやいが、たいぼくに なりません）
Ume tree + study = uncertain, unsteady way of studying
Ume tree grows up very quickly, but never become a giant tree
「梅」＋「根性」＝「梅根性」：
（うめ＋こんじょう＝うめこんじょう）
煮ても焼いてもすっぱいままでいる性質を表しています。
（にても やいても すっぱいままでいる せいしつを あらわしています）
Ume ＋nature = stubborn
It is because Ume will keep its taste sour even if you boil it or grill it.
いい意味の言葉も悪い意味の言葉もあって、
(いい いみの ことばも わるい いみの ことばも あって）
日本の生活に、梅が大きい意味を持つことが分かりますね。
（にほんの せいかつに うめが おおきい いみを もつ ことが わかりますね）
皆さんの国にも、そんな植物がありますか。

There are good nuance words and bad nuance words, but
we can see Ume has been important to Japanese life.
