Setsubun Day!

2月3日は、「節分」です！

にがつ　みっか　は、「せつぶん」です！

(Feb. 3rd is Setsubun Day!)

 

｢節」＝せつ＝joint/knot

「分」＝ぶん＝split/branch



節 comes from bamboo joint

 

節分は、立春の前の日です。

せつぶんは、りっしゅんの　まえの　ひ　です。

 

冬と春の節目の日です。

ふゆと　はるの　ふしめの　ひです。

 

2014年の立春が、2月4日ですから、今年の節分は、2月3日です。

２０１４ねんの　りっしゅんが、２がつ４かですから、ことしの　せつぶんは、２がつ３かです。

 

"Setsubun Day" is the day before the "Risshun Day", the first day of spring.

It is the "knot" of winter and spring.

The "Risshun Day" of 2014 is Feb. 4th,

therefore, the "Setsubun Day" in 2014 is Feb. 3rd.

季節の節目には、鬼が出ると言われています。

きせつの　ふしめには、おにが　でると　いわれています。

 

だから、家の中から外に向かって、福豆（大豆）を投げて、

だから、いえの　なかから　そとに　むかって、ふくまめ（だいず）を　なげて、

 

「鬼は外、福は内」と言います。

「おには　そと、ふくは　うち」と　いいます。

 

It is said that the ogre will appear in the "knot" of the season.

So, you throw fortune bean (soy bean) from inside of the house toward outside,

saying "Ogre stay outside, Fortune come inside!"

 

それから、自分の年の数だけ、福豆を食べます。

それから、じぶんの　としの　かずだけ、ふくまめを　たべます。

 

福豆を体の中に入れると健康になると言われています。

ふくまめを　からだの　なかに　いれると　けんこうになる　といわれています。

 

Then, you eat the fortune beans of the number of your age.

It is said that the body will stay healthy if you put the fortune beans inside.

 

また、最近は、「恵方巻」も食べます。

また、さいきんは、「えほうまき」も　たべます。

(Also, we eat "ehou-maki", too recently.)

 

「恵方」＝えほう＝lucky direction

「巻」＝まき＝Roll

 

恵方巻は、巻きずしで、
えほうまきは、まきずしで、
 

恵方に向かって、願い事を考えながら、
えほうに　むかって、ねがいごとを　かんがえながら、
 

一人で全部食べます。
ひとりで　ぜんぶ　たべます。
 

そうすると、願い事が叶うと言われています。
そうすると、ねがいが　かなうと　いわれています。

"ehou-maki" is a sushi-roll.
You should face the lucky direction, wishing for what you want,
and eat it all by yourself.
It is said that the dream will come true, if you could do that.

今年の恵方は、東北東です！

ことしの　えほうは、とうほくとう　です。

The lucky direction of 2014 is east-northeast.
